Process:

Upon hearing that the topic for our photos was nature, I was a bit confused as to how I should take my photos.  With that, I decided to go to the park near me and just see what happened.  At first, I had no idea what to do and looked around the park for inspiration until I just decided to go for it.  When I looked through the viewfinder to take my very first photo, I realized that it was really blurry but, I just left it alone.  After about five photos, I realized that I had to adjust the focus; this, I believe made my photos a lot better because you could see whatever I was photographing clearly.  Using this, I adjusted the focus on almost every photo depending on whether or not I wanted to put emphasis on a certain aspect or area of the scenery.  Although, I will admit that the photos I took were basic and lacked meaning; I believe that this was mainly because I was a bit afraid to take risks and mess up my first roll of film.

When I had finished my first final and saw that is didn't turn out exactly as I wanted, I turned to my peers for help.  But before I did that, I took my image out of the darkroom into the brighter lighting to see what went wrong.  The main issue was that the photo was to light and my classmates seemed to agree as well.  In addition to that, one of my peers did say that one of my photos was not the best because there were scratches on the film.  However, due to the limited amount of photos that turned out when I developed them, I had to choose the photos that were my finals whether I liked them or not.

Reflection:

In a majority of my finals, there was a contrast between light and dark and in some a symmetrical balance aswell.  As for how my beliefs and values were shown throughout my photos, I don't really think that my photos demonstrated my beliefs or values very well.  Knowing this, next project, I will try to show more of my values and beliefs by having more meaning behind the photos I take instead of just thinking that what I'm photographing looks nice.  But, I believe that the photos lacked meaning because it was my first film and decided to play it a lot safer than if I knew what I was doing.  The main motive for this being that I really wanted my photos to turn out well;  keeping this in mind, next time I there will be more meaning, belief, and value before my photos.
